The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall in four Tamil Nadu districts on Sunday, October 4, 2026. The districts expected to receive heavy rain are Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul and Theni, with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds possible in isolated areas.

Heavy Rain Forecast for 4 Districts

According to the weather forecast, isolated places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul and Theni districts may experience heavy rainfall on Sunday.

Moderate rain is also likely in parts of the Western Ghats districts and several other areas, including Madurai, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri.

Rain Forecast for Tamil Nadu on October 3

On Saturday, October 3, moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds is likely in isolated places across the Western Ghats districts, Madurai, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur and Perambalur.

Light rain may occur in isolated places across other districts of Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Weather Forecast

Chennai and its suburban areas are expected to experience partly cloudy skies on Saturday, October 3. Light rain is possible in a few parts of the city during the evening and night.

Residents are advised to follow official weather updates, particularly in areas expecting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

Recent Rainfall and Temperature

The highest maximum temperature reported in Tamil Nadu was 103.64°F in Erode.

A rainfall of 60 mm was recorded at Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district, Karuppanadhi Dam in Tenkasi district and Valparai in Coimbatore district.
