Tamil Nadu Weather Today: Moderate Rain with Thunderstorms Likely in Western Ghats and North Coastal Districts

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of the Western Ghats districts and North Coastal Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

Most parts of Tamil Nadu experienced dry weather on Friday. However, light rain was reported during the evening in Chennai and several suburban areas, bringing brief relief from the prevailing heat.

Meanwhile, temperatures remained high across the State. Maximum temperatures crossed the 100°F (37.8°C) mark at 10 locations, including Nungambakkam, Meenambakkam, Cuddalore, Madurai City, Madurai Airport, Nagapattinam, Palayamkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, and Tiruttani.

The highest temperature of the day was recorded at Madurai Airport, where the mercury touched 104°F (40°C).

According to the weather department, isolated places in the Western Ghats districts and North Coastal Tamil Nadu are likely to receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds at speeds of 30–40 kmph today.

For the rest of Tamil Nadu, isolated light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected at a few places.
