Heavy Rain in North Chennai: Tondiarpet, Thiruvottiyur Record Heavy Downpour

Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of North Chennai on Saturday evening, with Tondiarpet recording 7.3 cm of rain in just one hour between 6 PM and 7 PM.

According to rainfall data, Coronation Nagar recorded 7 cm of rainfall during the same period, while Thiruvottiyur received 6.9 cm.

The intense downpour has led to waterlogging on roads in several areas, affecting local traffic and making commuting difficult for residents. With heavy rain continuing, motorists and pedestrians have been advised to exercise caution while travelling through waterlogged streets.

The intense rainfall within a short period highlights the risk of localised flooding in low-lying areas of North Chennai. Residents are advised to stay alert and follow official weather updates as the situation develops.
