TNPSC Group 4 Exam Notification to Be Released Tomorrow

The TNPSC Group 4 examination notification, which is eagerly awaited by lakhs of candidates, is set to be released tomorrow, October 6. Around 10,000 vacancies are expected to be included in the examination.

The Tamil Nadu government recruits employees for various departments and public sector organisations through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). Of the six examinations listed in the TNPSC Annual Planner for 2026, notifications for five examinations have already been released, and three examinations have been conducted.

Two more examinations are scheduled to be held soon. According to the annual examination schedule, the notification for the Group 4 examination is scheduled to be released on October 6, while the examination is scheduled to be conducted on December 20.

Accordingly, TNPSC is expected to release the notification for the Combined Group 4 examination on its website tomorrow. Group 4 examinations generally include posts such as Junior Assistant, Typist, Steno-Typist Grade III, Village Administrative Officer, Draftsman, Bill Collector and Forest Guard. The 2024 Group 4 examination had 4,662 vacancies.

Since 2024, Group C-level posts in public sector organisations, including universities, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and government transport corporations, have also been filled through the Group 4 examination. Recently, a government order was also issued stating that vacancies in urban local bodies such as town panchayats, municipalities and corporations would be filled through TNPSC.

As there are a significant number of Group C vacancies in urban local bodies, these posts are also expected to be included under the Group 4 examination. Therefore, the notification scheduled to be released tomorrow may include more than 10,000 vacancies.

SSLC Qualification

For most Group 4 posts, the basic educational qualification is SSLC pass. For a few posts, a degree is prescribed as the educational qualification. Candidates applying for Typist and Steno-Typist posts must also have passed the required technical examination in addition to meeting the basic educational qualification.

Although the minimum educational qualification for the Group 4 examination is Class 10, a large number of postgraduate and degree holders also apply for the examination. In the previous Group 4 examination, 13.89 lakh candidates applied, while 11.36 lakh candidates appeared for the examination. This year, around 15 lakh candidates are expected to apply for the Group 4 examination.
