ChatGPT Usage Surges Among Adults Over 35 Across the Globe, New Data Shows

Technology News: ChatGPT is no longer just a tool for students and young professionals. New data reveal that adults aged 35 and above are adopting the AI chatbot at a rapidly increasing pace, marking a significant shift in how artificial intelligence is being used across different age groups worldwide.

Over the past year, the share of ChatGPT messages sent by users aged 35 and older has grown in almost every country. According to the latest analysis, this age group now accounts for 5% more of all ChatGPT messages than it did a year ago, highlighting the expanding appeal of generative AI among experienced professionals, business owners, educators, and lifelong learners.

Adults Over 35 Are Driving ChatGPT`s Growth

The findings indicate that while younger users continue to make up a large portion of ChatGPT`s audience, adoption among people over 35 has accelerated steadily throughout the past year.

The analysis is based on users who voluntarily reported their age on the ChatGPT platform, providing insights into changing usage patterns across different age groups.

Experts believe the trend reflects growing awareness of AI`s practical applications in the workplace, business, education, and everyday life. Many users in this age group are increasingly turning to ChatGPT for writing assistance, research, productivity, problem-solving, coding support, travel planning, and learning new skills.

Europe Sees the Fastest Growth

The increase has been especially notable across several European countries.

According to the report, France and Czechia recorded some of the strongest growth, with the share of ChatGPT messages sent by users aged 35 and older rising by more than 10 percentage points over the past year.

Nearly three-quarters of European countries experienced above-average growth in AI adoption among this age group, suggesting that older professionals across the region are embracing generative AI faster than ever before.

Southeast Asia Records More Modest Gains

While adoption also increased in most Southeast Asian countries, the pace was comparatively slower.

The report notes that six of the region`s eight countries saw an increase in ChatGPT usage among people aged 35 and above, although the gains were relatively modest. Countries such as Singapore recorded smaller changes compared to many European markets.

AI Adoption Continues to Expand

The latest figures suggest that ChatGPT is evolving from a technology primarily associated with younger users into a mainstream productivity tool used across generations.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into workplaces, businesses, and daily routines, experts expecect adoption among older adults to continue rising, narrowing the age gap in the use of generative AI technologies.
