Tamil New Year & Vishu 2026: Special Trains from Chennai

Southern Railway has announced special trains from Chennai to manage the festive rush during Tamil New Year and Vishu.
Special services will operate to Tirunelveli, Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Thoothukudi on select dates in April.
Chennai–Tirunelveli: April 9 (Return: April 10)
Chennai–Kollam: April 15 (Return: April 16)
Chennai–Thiruvananthapuram: April 10 (Return: April 15)
Chennai–Thoothukudi: April 13 (Return: April 14)
Most trains will depart around 10:00 AM, with some services scheduled at 2:15 PM.
The move aims to reduce crowding and waiting lists during the festive season.
