Southern Railway Extends Weekly Special Train Between Podanur and Chennai Central
Southern Railway has announced the extension of weekly special train services operating between Podanur and MGR Chennai Central Railway Station for nine additional days to manage passenger demand.
According to the official railway announcement, special train number 06028 will continue operating from Podanur to Chennai Central on May 20, 21, 23, 28, 29, 30 and June 3, 4, and 5. The train will depart from Podanur at 7:40 AM and arrive at Chennai Central at 4:45 PM on the same day.
In the return direction, special train number 06027 will operate from Chennai Central to Podanur on the same dates. The train is scheduled to depart Chennai Central at 5:45 PM and reach Podanur at 3:00 AM the following day.
Southern Railway stated that the extension of the weekly special train service has been introduced considering increased passenger traffic between Chennai and western Tamil Nadu regions.
The special train service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Chennai, Coimbatore and surrounding areas during the holiday and summer travel season.
