Maruti Suzuki Expects Double Digit Sales Growth During Festive Season

Maruti Suzuki India Limited expects to record double-digit growth in retail vehicle sales during the festive season this year, supported by continued demand for passenger vehicles and an increase in SUV sales.

According to the company, vehicle sales during the festive period leading up to Diwali are expected to remain strong, despite a decline in overall passenger vehicle registrations during Navratri.

Maruti Suzuki Sales Remain Steady During Navratri

According to provisional data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), passenger vehicle registrations during Navratri declined by 21.9% year-on-year to 1.83 lakh units.

However, Maruti Suzuki`s vehicle sales during the same period remained at a level similar to that of the previous year, according to Partho Banerjee, the company`s Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales.

Last year, vehicle purchases slowed ahead of Navratri as consumers waited for an anticipated Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction. After the tax reduction took effect on the first day of Navratri, sales improved between Navratri and Diwali.

Small Car and SUV Sales Show Growth

Maruti Suzuki reported growth of around 16–17% in the small-car segment. The company also recorded a significant increase in SUV sales after improving deliveries of models such as the Victoris and Brezza.

The company`s pending vehicle bookings stood at approximately 2 lakh units in October and increased to 2.7 lakh units after Dussehra, reflecting continued demand, according to the report.

Festive Season Sales Outlook

Maruti Suzuki expects the positive demand trend to continue through Diwali. Based on current market conditions and its booking pipeline, the company anticipates double-digit growth in overall retail sales during the festive season.

The final sales performance will depend on customer demand and the company`s ability to deliver vehicles against pending bookings.
