NEET Retest Conducted Across Tamil Nadu; Over 1.20 Lakh Students Appear at 307 Centres

The NEET retest was conducted successfully across Tamil Nadu on Sunday, with more than 1.20 lakh candidates appearing for the examination at 307 centres across the state. In Chennai alone, over 20,000 students took the test at 43 examination centres.

Candidates were allowed to enter examination centres between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and underwent strict security checks, including metal detector screening and biometric verification, to prevent impersonation and ensure a transparent examination process.

Authorities imposed restrictions on items such as rings, bangles, earrings, nose pins, chains, spectacles, talismans and belts. Electronic devices including mobile phones, calculators and Bluetooth-enabled gadgets were strictly prohibited inside examination halls.

The examination, which is usually held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., was conducted under enhanced security arrangements. Students were provided an additional 15 minutes to complete the test. Examination centres were monitored through CCTV surveillance, while police personnel were deployed to maintain security and order.

To prevent any irregularities, officials implemented several precautionary measures. Question papers were transported to examination centres in GPS-enabled vehicles under tight security. Authorities stated that all arrangements were made to ensure a fair and smooth examination process for candidates.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the NEET retest results within the next 10 days.
