IITM Pravartak Opens Registration for Free Nationwide ‘Out of the Box Thinking’ Mathematics Programme

IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation has invited applications for the next batch of its free nationwide ‘Out of the Box Thinking’ (OOBT) mathematics programme, an initiative designed to strengthen analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among learners across India.

Online registrations for the programme will remain open until August 6, while classes are scheduled to commence on August 7. The programme is open to school and college students, teachers, researchers, parents, working professionals, and lifelong learners.

Innovative Approach to Mathematics

The course has been designed and will be conducted by Sadagopan Rajesh, Founder-Director of the Aryabhatta Institute of Mathematical Sciences and a renowned mathematics educator.

Instead of relying on conventional methods, the programme encourages participants to understand mathematical concepts through logical reasoning, creative thinking, and multiple problem-solving approaches, helping learners develop a deeper understanding of mathematics.

IIT Madras Director Highlights Importance of Critical Thinking

V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, said mathematics plays a vital role in solving real-world challenges through innovative thinking.

He noted that the OOBT programme develops critical thinking by encouraging learners to question assumptions, explore alternative approaches, and evaluate solutions from different perspectives. He added that many scientific and technological breakthroughs are rooted in innovative mathematical thinking, making such programmes essential for nurturing future innovators.

Four-Level Programme with Certification

The OOBT programme consists of four progressive levels, with each level spanning 10 weeks. Participants will receive periodic assignments, guided solutions, and structured learning throughout the course.

Learners who wish to obtain certification can appear for a proctored examination at designated centres by paying a nominal examination fee. Successful candidates will receive a graded certificate issued by IITM Pravartak.

Schools Invited to Participate

To expand the programme`s reach, IITM Pravartak has also invited schools across the country to nominate teachers as institutional coordinators. These coordinators will help encourage student participation and strengthen engagement with the initiative.

According to Sadagopan Rajesh, the programme aims to make high-quality mathematics education accessible to every learner while building confidence, logical reasoning, and creativity through concept-based learning.
