Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Thunderstorms, Lightning and Gusty Winds Expected Today

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the Western Ghats districts and several other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next couple of days.

Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds on September 7

On Monday, September 7, isolated parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning, along with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph.

The Western Ghats districts may receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated locations.

Temperatures to Remain Above Normal

Meanwhile, maximum temperatures in north interior Tamil Nadu are expected to remain 2–4°C above normal until September 10. Residents in these areas may continue to experience hot and humid conditions during the daytime.

Rain Forecast for September 10

The weather department has also forecast light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at isolated places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on September 10.

In Chennai, Monday`s maximum temperature is expected to be around 37°C, while the minimum temperature may be around 26°C.

Some parts of the city are likely to receive light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning during the evening and night.
