IIT Madras and Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) have renewed their partnership to strengthen fintech innovation, research, startup development and professional education through the CAMS IIT Madras FinTech Innovation Lab (CIFIL).

A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the IIT Madras campus on Wednesday, marking the next phase of a collaboration that began in 2022 under CAMS` Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

CIFIL to Focus on Emerging FinTech Technologies

Under the renewed partnership, CIFIL will expand its focus on several emerging areas of financial technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) in financial services, digital payments, blockchain and tokenisation, cybersecurity, regulatory technology (RegTech), WealthTech, InsurTech, digital lending, data analytics and financial inclusion.

The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between academic research and industry expertise while developing innovative solutions for India`s rapidly evolving financial services ecosystem.

Focus on FinTech Research and Technology Commercialisation

The renewed partnership will also expand research activities and support the development of intellectual property (IP). CIFIL will facilitate technology transfer and help commercialise research-driven solutions for practical applications in the financial services sector.

By connecting academic research with industry requirements, the lab aims to accelerate the development and adoption of emerging fintech technologies.

Support for FinTech Startups

CIFIL will further strengthen its support for fintech startups through mentoring, faculty expertise, industry networks, research collaborations and innovation challenges.

These initiatives are expected to help startups access academic knowledge, industry experience and research capabilities while developing innovative and scalable financial technology solutions.

CAMS and IIT Madras FinTech Collaboration

CAMS Managing Director Anuj Kumar said CIFIL was established to bring together industry experience and academic exploration.

He said the renewed partnership would create an environment where innovative ideas could be transformed into practical solutions for the financial services ecosystem.

The expanded collaboration between IIT Madras and CAMS is expected to contribute to India`s growing fintech ecosystem by promoting AI in finance, digital payments, blockchain, cybersecurity, digital lending, financial inclusion and fintech entrepreneurship.
