Independence Day 2026: Traffic Restrictions Around St George Fort in Chennai

Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, traffic restrictions have been announced around St George Fort in Chennai to facilitate security arrangements and ensure smooth movement of vehicles.

As part of the arrangements, vehicle movement will be restricted on specific stretches of Kamarajar Salai around the St George Fort area.

Traffic Restrictions Near St George Fort

Vehicles without valid passes will face restrictions in the designated areas. As an alternative arrangement, vehicles without passes will be allowed only up to the Labour Statue.

Motorists travelling towards the St George Fort area are advised to follow the alternative routes and traffic instructions issued by the authorities during the Independence Day celebrations.

The restrictions are aimed at managing traffic and strengthening security around the venue during the Independence Day 2026 celebrations.
