PM Modi and Tamil Nadu CM Vijay to Travel Together on Chennai Metro

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Chennai to participate in several events, including the inauguration of the Poonamallee–Vadapalani Metro Rail service. According to reports, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is expected to travel with the Prime Minister on the new metro train.

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, security arrangements have been strengthened across Chennai. A five-tier security system has been put in place, with around 15,000 police personnel deployed for monitoring and crowd management.

Five areas—Meenambakkam, Guindy, Kotturpuram, Porur and Nandambakkam—have been declared red zones for security reasons. The flying of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles has been prohibited in these areas.

Extensive security checks and surveillance are being carried out at Chennai Airport, Porur Bypass Metro Station, the IIT Madras campus in Kotturpuram, the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam and the Governor’s residence in Guindy.

The arrangements are aimed at ensuring security during the Prime Minister’s visit and the scheduled metro-related events.
