Tamil Nadu Rain Alert: Heavy Rain in 5 Districts Today, Chennai Weather Update

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall in five districts of Tamil Nadu today, with thunderstorms and strong winds likely in some places. Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupathur and Dindigul are expected to receive heavy rain at isolated locations.

Heavy Rain Expected in 5 Districts

According to the latest weather forecast, isolated areas of Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupathur and Dindigul may receive heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

Moderate rainfall is also likely in the Western Ghats districts, along with Vellore, Ranipet, Kallakurichi, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai and Sivaganga.

Heavy Rain Forecast for 3 Districts Tomorrow

For tomorrow, Erode, Namakkal and Madurai are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

Moderate rain is expected in the Western Ghats districts and several other areas, including Tirupathur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai and Sivaganga.

Temperature to Remain Above Normal

The weather department said there is no significant change expected in the maximum temperature across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal until October 1. However, temperatures may rise slightly in some areas.

Until September 30, maximum temperatures could be 2–4°C above normal at a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Chennai Weather Forecast

In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy today and tomorrow. Some parts of the city may receive moderate rain with thunderstorms during the evening or night.

The maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to remain around 36–37°C, while the minimum temperature may be around 27–28°C.
