Vadapalani Metro Station: Green and Yellow Line Connectivity

Vadapalani Metro Station is gaining importance as a key transport hub in southwest Chennai, connecting metro services with the city`s bus network. With the Green Line already operational and the Yellow Line service beginning on October 11, 2026, the station offers improved connectivity for commuters.

Vadapalani is a prominent commercial area known for the Vadapalani Murugan Temple, Vijaya Mall, retail shops, educational institutions, government offices and private companies. The area is also home to AVM Studios, along with several film production companies and recording studios.

Vadapalani Green Line Metro Connectivity

The Green Line Metro connects Chennai Central and St. Thomas Mount via Vadapalani. Arumbakkam is the next station towards Chennai Central, while Ashok Nagar is the next station towards St. Thomas Mount. The Green Line also provides connectivity with the Blue Line at interchange stations.

Blue and Purple Line Metro Connections

Passengers can access the Blue Line Metro by travelling to stations such as Alandur or Chennai Central, depending on their route. Future plans include connecting the Purple Line with Kilpauk and providing additional metro connections at stations such as Thirumayilai.

Vadapalani Yellow Line Metro Service

Vadapalani is the 11th station on the Yellow Line, which runs from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass. Passengers travelling from Vadapalani towards Nandanam can interchange with the Blue Line Metro. Further network expansion is expected to improve connectivity with other metro corridors.

Future Red Line and Suburban Rail Connectivity

Future plans include Red Line Metro connections at Alwarthirunagar, Valasaravakkam, Karambakkam and Alapakkam. Passengers will also be able to access Chennai suburban train services at Kodambakkam, connecting the Beach–Chengalpattu route.

The Yellow Line corridor also provides connectivity to important destinations, including Poonamallee Bus Terminus, Ayyappanthangal Bus Terminus and Sri Ramachandra Medical College. These connections are expected to strengthen Vadapalani`s role as a multimodal transport hub in Chennai.
