CM Vijay Issues Strong Warning Against Corruption; Cabinet Finalises Tamil Nadu Budget Proposals

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK President C. Joseph Vijay has issued a strong warning to ministers and party functionaries, stating that anyone found involved in corruption or misconduct will face strict action, irrespective of their position or personal closeness to him.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while chairing the second Cabinet meeting of the TVK-led government at the Secretariat on Thursday. The meeting primarily focused on finalising proposals for the government`s maiden Budget, which is expected to be presented in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in the first week of August.

According to sources, the Cabinet meeting also discussed the conduct of ministers and stressed the need to maintain transparency, discipline and accountability in public service.

Vijay reportedly instructed ministers to avoid visiting schools and government institutions solely for publicity or social media content creation. He emphasised that public representatives should focus on governance and service rather than promotional activities.

Reaffirming the government`s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the Chief Minister warned that any minister or party functionary found guilty of corruption or other wrongdoing would be removed from office and face appropriate action.

Following the meeting, Energy and Law Minister R. Nirmalkumar said the Cabinet had finalised the Budget proposals and that the upcoming Budget session would include several new announcements and policy initiatives.

The Cabinet also reviewed action plans prepared by various government departments, including one-year, three-year and five-year development strategies, proposals for new initiatives and assessments of existing welfare schemes.

The Tamil Nadu government`s maiden Budget under the TVK-led administration is expected to outline key development projects, welfare measures and policy decisions for the State.
