Small aircraft flight services operating between Chennai, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli have been resumed, providing improved air connectivity for passengers travelling within Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, IndiGo Airlines was operating multiple ATR small-aircraft services on these routes. However, from mid-December, the airline temporarily replaced the ATR flights with larger A20N aircraft, which reduced the number of daily services and caused seat shortages during peak travel periods.
Increased Flight Frequency After Resumption
Following passenger demand, IndiGo has now restored the ATR commuter flights, significantly increasing the number of services:
Chennai - Madurai route:
- 8 ATR flights from Chennai to Madurai
- 8 ATR flights from Madurai to Chennai daily
Chennai - Trichy route:
- Two A20N flights at 9:10 AM and 4:30 PM
- One additional ATR service at 1:35 PM
- Total of six daily flights between Chennai and Trichy
Benefit for Passengers
- The resumption of small aircraft services is expected to:
- Improve seat availability
- Reduce travel congestion
- Offer more flexible travel timings
- Enhance regional air connectivity across Tamil Nadu
Passengers are advised to check airline schedules and availability before planning their journey.
