Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Rain Likely for Three Days; Chennai May Receive Evening Showers

Tamil Nadu is likely to experience heavy rainfall over the next three days, with thunderstorms and strong winds expected in several districts.

A weak trough is currently prevailing in the lower atmospheric levels over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Under its influence, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds is likely at isolated places across the Western Ghats districts and northern coastal Tamil Nadu. Puducherry and Karaikal may also experience similar weather conditions.

Heavy Rain Likely in Nilgiris and Coimbatore

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in the Nilgiris and the ghat areas of Coimbatore district, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of around 40 to 50 kmph.

Other Western Ghats districts and parts of northern coastal Tamil Nadu may also receive moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Heavy Rain Forecast for July 31 and August 1

On July 31, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over the Nilgiris, Theni and Kanniyakumari districts, as well as the ghat areas of Coimbatore and Tirunelveli districts.

Similar weather conditions are expected on August 1, with heavy rain likely at isolated places across the same regions.

Tamil Nadu Temperature Forecast

No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal until July 31.

On August 1 and 2, maximum temperatures are also unlikely to change significantly, although a slight decrease may occur in some areas.

Chennai Weather: Light to Moderate Rain Possible

In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy today and tomorrow. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in some parts of the city during the evening or night.

The maximum temperature in Chennai is expected to remain around 38°C, while the minimum temperature could be around 29°C.
