In the future, about 3000 people would be provided jobs at Hitachi in Porur in Chennai. For this, a memorandum of understanding or MoU was signed on 15th October 2025 in the presence of the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin
At a function held on behalf of Industry, Investment promotion and Commerce at the Secretariat in Chennai, a MOU was signed for the expansion project of Global Technology and Innovation Centre of Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of Hitachi Group in Porur Chennai. The MoU was signed with a huge investment of Rs 2000 crores and it would provide employment to 3000 people in 5 years.
Hitachi Energy Technology Company:
The superb piece of information is that Japan based Hitachi Group is one of the Global Fortune 500 companies and one of its subsidiaries is Hitachi Energy Technology Services.
It must be recalled that Hitachi Company`s Global Technology & Innovation Centre was inaugurated by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M. K. Stalin in the year 2023 at Porur in Chennai.
In this scenario, on 15th October, a MoU was signed in the presence of CM of TN for the expansion project of Global Technology and Innovation Centre of Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited in Porur in Chennai with an investment of Rs 2000 cr.
It must be noted that the event witnessed the presence of important personalities like Mr. T.R.P. Raja, minister for Industries, investment promotion and commerce, Mr. N. Muruganantham, TN chief secretary, Mr. Arun Roy, secretary, Industries investments promotion and commerce, Mr. Andreas Scheerenbeck, Hitachi Global CEO and Mr. Venu Nugari, MD of Hitachi India and a few others.
