IGBC platinum certification for the CMRL head quarters at Nandanam in Chennai!!
Chennai Metro Rail limited or CMRL headquarters at Nandanam is now making amazing news for this reason!!
The headquarters of CMRL at Nandanam has received IGBC or Indian Green Building Council certification under the IGBC Green new buildings rating system. This has grabbed the attention of many now.
It is worth mentioning here that CMRLs effort towards sustainability across various parameters like site preservation, RWH, water efficiency plus others like energy savings, on-site renewable energy and occupant well—being facilities etc. As many as 69 trees have been preserved for the Nandanam building and sustainable landscaping has been extended to 79% of the area. This was mentioned by the press release from CMRL.
The release further added that the building achieves 100percent wastewater treatment, recycling treated wastewater to satisfy 94% of the flushing and irrigation demands. It is worthy to note that energy efficiency steps have led to 23.39% reduction in energy consumption beyond the ASHRAE baseline. The release concluded that the onsite rooftop solar photovoltaic system supplies 3% of annual electricity needs. The IGBC platinum certification for CMRL headquarters has made the MD of CMRL Mr. M. A. Siddique happy now. He spoke about how the recognition would strengthen CMRLs resolve to integrate sustainable constructions and operations in all the projects.
