Travellers from foreign countries won`t feel bored while waiting at the Chennai airport. It is now said that AAI or Airport Authority of India has set up a library with a diverse set of books especially for the international travellers waiting to board the planes.
On Wednesday, a library was inaugurated at the Chennai airport on the occasion of the 95th birthday of former India President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. This library was set up in collaboration with Dr. Abdul Kalam foundation.
Near the security hold area at the airport in Chennai, this library has been set up now by AAI and it was inaugurated by airport director Mr. Raja Kishore. It must be noted that this library would be accessible to those flyers waiting for transit after long layovers.
There is a library at the airport in Bhubaneswar in Odisha state. This has inspired Mr. Kishore Chandran, founder of Dr. Abdul Kalam foundation and he proposed the idea of setting up a similar library in Chennai airport to the authorities. He spoke about how the Chennai airport would keep it free for the passengers at the airport unlike Bhubaneswar airport that lends the books to the passengers. It is superb to note that when Mr. Kishore emailed the Chennai authorities about setting up of a library at the airport in Chennai the authorities gave green signal. For the sake of better accessibility, a transit area has been chosen for the library.
There are about 100 books in the library at the Chennai airport now and these books are based on business, women empowerment and spirituality etc. In addition to these, there are also many books for the kids also. In the future, similar libraries would be set up at other airports too.
