Yelagiri Express to Run with New LHB Coaches from May 3; Southern Railway Upgrade Announced
The Southern Railway has announced that the Yelagiri Express will operate with new LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches to improve passenger comfort and safety.
The upgraded coaches will be introduced on the train departing from MGR Chennai Central railway station starting May 3, 2026, while the return service from Jolarpettai Junction railway station will run with LHB coaches from May 4, 2026.
The revamped Yelagiri Express will consist of one air-conditioned seating coach along with 19 second-class general compartments, providing better travel facilities for daily commuters and passengers on this route.
LHB coaches are modern, German-designed coaches known for their enhanced safety features, higher speed capability, and improved riding comfort. Compared to conventional coaches, they offer better stability, reduced noise, and a smoother journey.
Railway officials stated that this move is part of ongoing efforts to modernise train services, ensuring a safer and more comfortable travel experience for passengers across the network.
With this upgrade, passengers travelling between Chennai and Jolarpettai can expect a more efficient and comfortable journey on the Yelagiri Express.
