Rising Steel Prices Increase Iron Shed and Grill Gate Installation Costs

The rising prices of iron and stainless steel have increased the cost of installing metal grill gates, staircase railings, steel doors and roofing sheds for residential and commercial buildings.

According to metal fabrication workers, the price of iron used for manufacturing household grill gates has increased from ₹80 to ₹90 per kg. The fabrication cost for ordinary iron grill gates has also risen from ₹140 to ₹150 per kg, including approximately ₹30 per kg in labour charges.

Stainless Steel Door Manufacturing Costs Increase

Stainless steel prices have increased by ₹15 per kg, reaching approximately ₹450 per kg. Labour charges for manufacturing stainless steel doors have also risen to around ₹170 per kg, adding to the overall cost for customers.

Tata Steel Roofing Sheet Prices Rise

The cost of installing roofing sheds using Tata Steel sheets has increased from ₹150 to ₹160 per square foot. The price of roofing sheets has also risen from ₹45 to ₹50, further increasing construction expenses.

Polyfiber Roofing Offers an Alternative

Polyfiber sheets, which allow natural sunlight to enter buildings, are another option for roofing sheds. These sheets cost approximately ₹70 per square foot. Including labour charges, the total cost of installing a polyfiber roofing shed is around ₹120 per square foot.

Depending on material quality, exposure to sunlight and rain, and maintenance, polyfiber roofing may last approximately 7 to 12 years. However, customers should confirm the expected lifespan with the supplier for the specific product they choose.
