The quarterly examination holidays for schools under the Tamil Nadu School Education Department have ended. Government, government-aided and private schools across Tamil Nadu are reopening today.
As schools reopen, textbooks for the second term will be distributed today to students studying from Classes 1 to 8. The School Education Department has already made the necessary arrangements for the distribution of textbooks.
The quarterly examinations for students studying from Classes 1 to 12 under the state board syllabus were conducted in September. After the examinations concluded, students were given a nine-day holiday. With the holiday period ending yesterday, schools are reopening today.
However, schools in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies have been given additional holidays due to the by-elections. The by-elections in these two constituencies are scheduled to be held on October 6.
Government and government-aided schools in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies will remain closed today, October 5, as well as on the election day. Private schools in these constituencies have been given a holiday only on October 6.
Therefore, schools in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies will reopen on October 7.
