Tamil Nadu Begins House-to-House Population Census Survey; Enumeration to Continue Until August 30

The Tamil Nadu Government has launched the house-to-house Population Census survey as part of the nationwide Population Census exercise. The survey involves collecting information on household amenities and living conditions across the State.

The census operation began on Friday and will continue until August 30, covering both urban and rural areas.

House-to-House Enumeration Underway

As part of the first phase of the Population Census, trained enumerators will visit every household to gather information on various housing facilities and basic amenities.

The data collected will help the government prepare updated demographic statistics and support policy planning, infrastructure development, and the effective implementation of welfare schemes.

Over 1.15 Lakh Enumerators Deployed

The State has deployed 1.15 lakh enumerators to carry out the survey, assisted by nearly 19,000 supervisors who will oversee the enumeration process and ensure the accuracy of data collection.

Officials have been instructed to complete the survey efficiently within the scheduled timeline.

Survey to Continue Until August 30

The house-to-house census survey will continue until August 30, with officials visiting households across Tamil Nadu. Residents are requested to cooperate with census staff by providing accurate information during the survey.

The Population Census is one of India`s largest statistical exercises and plays a vital role in planning public services, infrastructure projects, housing, education, healthcare, and government welfare programmes.
