Tamil Nadu to Operate 2,030 Special Buses for Aadi Perukku and Weekend Rush

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations will operate 2,030 special buses across the State to manage the expected passenger rush during the weekend holidays and the Aadi Perukku festival.

According to the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC), additional bus services will operate from major Chennai terminals and other cities to various destinations across Tamil Nadu.

So far, 13,547 passengers have booked tickets in advance for travel between July 31 and August 2, and reservations are expected to increase.

Special Buses from Kilambakkam

From the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT) in Kilambakkam, special buses will operate to Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur.

SETC will operate 420 special buses on July 31, 330 on August 1 and 270 on August 2.

Special Buses from Koyambedu

From the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) in Koyambedu, special buses will operate to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru.

A total of 120 special buses each will operate on July 31 and August 1, while 55 buses will operate on August 2.

Additionally, 200 special buses will operate from Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Erode and Tirupur to various destinations.

Special Buses from Madhavaram

From Madhavaram Bus Terminus, special buses will operate to Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Polur and Puducherry.

A total of 45 buses each will operate on July 31 and August 1, followed by 50 buses on August 2.

420 Special Buses for Return Journey

To accommodate passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru from their hometowns, 420 special buses will operate from various parts of Tamil Nadu on August 2.

Advance reservations have reached 13,547 passengers, including 5,721 bookings for July 31, 2,396 for August 1 and 5,430 for August 2.

Additional officials have been deployed at major bus terminals to monitor operations and ensure the smooth movement of passengers during the festival and weekend rush.

Passengers can book tickets in advance through the TNSTC mobile app or the official TNSTC online booking portal.
