One of the important pilgrimage places in Tamil Nadu is Srirangam located near Trichy. This is now making great news.
Yesterday, the renovated railway station at Srirangam was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi through video conferencing. An amount of Rs 6.77 cr has been used to renovate this railway station under Amrit Stations Scheme.
It must be taken into account that as many as 103 railway stations across India including 6 railway stations in the Trichy railway division have been renovated by the central govt. One of these is the railway station at Srirangam.
The railway station at Srirangam has been renovated due to the fact that a large number of devotees visit Ranganathar Swamy temple.
Information collected is that the entrance gate, ticketing hall and passenger waiting room have been renovated. It is learnt that the old entrance gate of the railway station has been demolished and a new entrance gate with a façade resembling Srirangam temple has been constructed.

The Srirangam railway station has been upgraded with superb facilities such as improved station premises, improved station façade, aesthetic landscape, seats, shelters, LED Lighting, drinking water facility, modernised platforms, renovated pedestrian overpasses, improved toilet facilities, parking facilities, pedestrian walkways plus others like integrated passenger information systems, LED screen announcements, solar energy, ramps etc.
After the inauguration of a renovated railway station at Srirangam by the Indian PM, a vote of thanks was expressed to the PM at the ceremony that took place at the Srirangam railway station.
