Chennai Metro Rail services on the Poonamallee Bypass–Vadapalani corridor are scheduled to begin on October 11, 2026. The 15-kilometre stretch includes 11 elevated metro stations under Corridor 4 of Phase II, also known as the Yellow Line.
According to Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), services will operate from 4 PM to 9 PM on the inaugural day. From October 12, trains will run daily from 7 AM to 9 PM in both directions.
Poonamallee–Vadapalani Metro Stations
The corridor includes the following 11 stations:
1. Poonamallee Bypass
2. Poonamallee Bus Terminus
3. Poonamallee Government Hospital
4. Karayanchavadi
5. Kumananchavadi
6. Kattupakkam
7. Ayyappanthangal
8. Thelliyaragaram
9. Porur Bypass
10. Porur Junction
11. Vadapalani
Metro Train Frequency on Weekdays
From Monday to Saturday, train frequency will vary depending on passenger demand.
Peak hours: Trains will run every 10 minutes from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 5 PM to 8 PM.
Non-peak hours: Trains will run every 15 minutes from 7 AM to 8 AM, 11 AM to 5 PM and 8 PM to 9 PM.
Sunday and Holiday Timings
On Sundays and public holidays, metro trains will operate from 7 AM to 9 PM at intervals of 15 minutes.
Last Metro Train
The last train will depart from both Poonamallee Bypass and Vadapalani stations at 9 PM every day.
The new metro corridor is expected to improve connectivity between Poonamallee and Vadapalani, offering commuters another public transport option along the route.
