Tamil Nadu Farmers Can Get 100% Subsidy for Farm Ponds Under World Bank-Aided Project

Farmers in selected districts of Tamil Nadu can avail a 100% subsidy of up to ₹1 lakh for the construction of farm ponds under the Tamil Nadu Irrigated Agriculture Modernization Project (TN-IAMP), a World Bank-assisted state government initiative.

The project aims to improve water-use efficiency, promote the concept of "more crop per drop of water", and increase both agricultural productivity and farmers` income.

Under the scheme, eligible farmers will receive full financial assistance of up to ₹1 lakh for constructing a farm pond in their fields.

The scheme is currently being implemented in 11 sub-basins under Phase IV, covering parts of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Tiruvallur, Karur and Kanchipuram districts.

All farmers located within the notified Phase IV sub-basin areas are eligible to apply for the benefit.
