Tamil Nadu Announces Holiday for Ration Shops on November 9 After Diwali

The Tamil Nadu government has announced a holiday for all fair price shops across the state on November 9, the day after Diwali. The holiday will be compensated by declaring November 21 a working day.

The decision follows a request from the ration shop employees` association to change the previously announced holiday schedule.

Revised Ration Shop Working Schedule

Earlier, the government had declared October 18 a working day for all fair price shops due to the consecutive holidays for Ayudha Pooja and Saraswathi Pooja. October 21 was subsequently announced as a compensatory holiday.

Following the employees` association`s request, the government has now revised the schedule:

November 9: Holiday for all fair price shops

November 21: Working day to compensate for the holiday

The announcement was made in an official statement issued by the Tamil Nadu government.

Ration cardholders are advised to plan their essential purchases accordingly and visit their nearby fair price shops on working days.
