Modern Women's Fitness Centre Inaugurated in Mylapore; New Ration Card Distribution to Begin Soon

Tamil Nadu Food and Civil Supplies Minister P. Venkataramanan inaugurated a modern women`s fitness centre built at a cost of ₹80 lakh in Mylapore on Tuesday.

The fitness centre, located on 4th Trust Link Street in Ward 126, has been constructed over an area of 750 square feet. The project was funded with ₹50 lakh from the Mayor`s Development Fund and ₹30 lakh from the Ward Councillor Development Fund.

The facility is equipped with modern fitness equipment, including treadmills, stationary bicycles, and multi-gym machines. It is expected to benefit women and residents from Mandaiveli and the surrounding coastal neighbourhoods by providing access to quality fitness infrastructure.

Following the inauguration, the Minister visited the Vizhudhugal Integrated Service Centre, which provides physical and mental rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities. He later inspected a Chennai Corporation Middle School in the area and interacted with the students.

The event was attended by Central Regional Deputy Commissioner H.R. Kaushik, Ward Councillor Amirtha Varshini, and other officials.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Minister P. Venkataramanan announced that the distribution of new ration cards will commence within the next one or two weeks.
