Heavy Rain Alert for Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri; Chennai May Receive Thunderstorms Today

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across several parts of Tamil Nadu today.

According to the weather forecast, districts along the Western Ghats, Delta region, and parts of North Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, are likely to receive moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph.

The weather department has also issued a heavy rain alert for isolated places in Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri districts. These areas may experience heavy showers accompanied by lightning and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph.

For Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely in some parts of the city during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 36°C to 37°C, while the minimum temperature may hover between 27°C and 28°C.

Residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
