Tamil Nadu Schools to Reopen on June 1 as Scheduled, Government Confirms
The Tamil Nadu Government has officially confirmed that schools across the state will reopen on June 1, 2026, as originally scheduled after the summer vacation.
Earlier, unofficial reports had suggested that the reopening date might be postponed due to the intense summer heat prevailing in several parts of Tamil Nadu. However, the state government has now clarified that there will be no change in the reopening schedule.
The confirmation came after a meeting between M. K. Stalin and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi regarding school reopening arrangements and the release of Class 10 public examination results.
Officials stated that all preparations for the new academic year are progressing as planned, including the distribution of textbooks, uniforms and other welfare materials for government school students.
The School Education Department is also preparing for the release of the SSLC Class 10 examination results expected in the coming days.
Parents, students and schools across Tamil Nadu have been advised to follow the official schedule and prepare for reopening on June 1.
