Chennai, 4 Other Districts Get ₹42 Crore for Northeast Monsoon Preparedness

The Tamil Nadu Water Resources Department has allocated ₹42 crore for pre-monsoon preparedness works in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Cuddalore districts.

A total of 202 desilting works will be carried out across these districts ahead of the Northeast Monsoon. Of these, 76 works in Chennai will be undertaken at a cost of ₹22.70 crore, while 126 works in the other four districts will cost around ₹19.30 crore.

Desilting works will be carried out in important waterways and water bodies, including the Buckingham Canal and Palar river, to improve water flow and strengthen monsoon preparedness.
