The Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results 2026 have brought a major political shift in the state, with Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerging as the single largest party in the 234-member Assembly.

According to the final election results, TVK secured 1,72,26,209 votes across Tamil Nadu, registering an impressive 34.92% vote share. The party won 108 Assembly constituencies, falling short of the majority mark of 118 seats required to form the government on its own.

M. K. Stalin-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) secured 1,19,29,144 votes and recorded a 24.19% vote share, winning 59 seats to become the main opposition party in the state.

Meanwhile, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) received 1,04,62,146 votes with a 21.21% vote share and won 47 Assembly seats, pushing the party to the third position in Tamil Nadu politics.

Political analysts believe the results could lead to a hung Assembly, as TVK may require support from smaller parties and independent MLAs to form the next government in Tamil Nadu.

In the DMK alliance, Indian National Congress won 5 seats, while Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Indian Union Muslim League, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Communist Party of India secured 2 seats each.

In the AIADMK alliance, Pattali Makkal Katchi won 4 seats, while Bharatiya Janata Party and Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam secured one seat each.

The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election is being viewed as a historic contest, marking the rise of TVK as a major political force and reshaping the state’s political landscape.
