Chennai Weather Update: Thunderstorms and Moderate Rain Likely in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Today
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has forecast thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today and tomorrow.
According to the report, in the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. yesterday, Kalavai (Ranipet district), Sethupattu (Tiruvannamalai district), and Valathi (Villupuram district) each recorded 3 cm of rainfall.
A low-pressure area that has formed over the central and eastern Bay of Bengal and coastal Myanmar region continues to persist in the same area and is likely to move along the Bangladesh–Myanmar coast today.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in many parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry till November 11. In some districts, maximum temperatures may rise 4°C above normal today.
For Chennai and nearby suburbs, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in a few areas.
