Chennai Corporation Begins Road Repairs Worth ₹21.80 Crore

The Greater Chennai Corporation has begun repairing pothole-ridden roads across the city at a cost of ₹21.80 crore as part of its preparations for the northeast monsoon.

According to a statement issued by the Corporation, the funds have been allocated across all 15 zones to repair damaged roads using concrete mixtures. Of the total amount, ₹9.25 crore has been earmarked for bus routes, while ₹12.55 crore has been allocated for interior roads.

Road repair works are currently underway in several parts of the Ambattur zone, including Ward 79, where Pachaiamman Street, Indira Gandhi Street and Lenin Nagar 10th Main Road are being repaired.

In Ward 80, the works cover New Anna Nagar 2nd Cross Street, Pudur Main Road, Abirami Puram Main Road, East Bhanu Nagar, Bhanu Nagar 24th Avenue and Bharathi Street.

In Ward 81, repairs are being carried out on Nainiyammal Street, Venkataraman Iyer Street, Saraswathi Pandurangan Street, Mariamman Koil Street and Azhavandhar Street. Several other major roads and streets in Wards 83, 84, 85, 87, 89 and 91 are also being covered under the initiative.

The Corporation has also completed repairs to potholes on Eri Scheme 1st Main Road, Palli Road and 7th Block in Ward 91 of Ambattur using cement concrete mixtures.

The initiative aims to improve road conditions and enhance commuter safety ahead of the northeast monsoon.
