Chennai - Arakkonam EMU Train Services Partially Cancelled Till May 31 Due to Maintenance Work

Passengers travelling on the Chennai–Arakkonam suburban railway route are advised to plan their journeys carefully as several EMU train services will remain partially cancelled till May 31, 2026.

The Chennai Railway Division announced that maintenance and technical works are currently under way in the Arakkonam Railway Station section. Due to these railway infrastructure works, multiple suburban electric train services from Chennai Moore Market Complex to Arakkonam will operate only up to Tiruvallangadu during the maintenance period.

Chennai to Arakkonam EMU Services Affected

The following EMU trains departing from Moore Market Complex towards Arakkonam will be short-terminated at Tiruvallangadu:

- 10:30 AM
- 11:00 AM
- 3:15 PM
- 3:45 PM
- 6:05 PM
- 6:40 PM
- 8:20 PM
- 9:10 PM
- 10:55 PM

Modified Return Train Services

Railway officials also confirmed that certain suburban train services from Arakkonam towards Chennai will remain partially cancelled during the same period.

To assist commuters, replacement EMU services will originate from Tiruvallangadu towards Chennai Moore Market Complex at the following timings:

- 5:25 AM
- 6:20 AM
- 6:40 AM
- 6:50 AM
- 4:25 PM
- 7:00 PM
- 8:25 PM
- 8:50 PM
- 9:45 PM

Officials stated that these temporary operational changes are essential to complete safety-related maintenance and technical upgrade works in the Arakkonam section.

The Chennai–Arakkonam suburban railway corridor is one of the busiest local train routes in Tamil Nadu, serving thousands of daily commuters, office workers and students.

Passengers are advised to check revised train schedules and updated timings before travel to avoid inconvenience.
