The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced that drinking water supply will be temporarily suspended in five zones of Chennai for 24 hours due to repair works on a major water transmission pipeline.
According to the official statement, repair work will be carried out to fix a leak in the drinking water transmission pipeline near Arcot Road in Porur, Valasaravakkam zone.
Due to the maintenance work, piped water supply will be stopped from 11:00 PM on March 7 to 11:00 PM on March 8 in certain areas under the following zones:
Zone 9 – Teynampet
Zone 10 – Kodambakkam
Zone 11 – Valasaravakkam
Zone 12 – Alandur
Zone 13 – Adyar
Residents in these areas are advised to store sufficient drinking water in advance to avoid inconvenience.
For emergency needs, the public can request water through water tankers (Dial for Water service) by registering on the official website: https://cmwssb.tn.gov.in.
Officials also clarified that water supply through tankers to areas without pipeline connections, water tanks, and street taps will continue as usual without interruption.
