Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Rain Forecast for Next 3 Days, Chennai May Get Showers

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast light to moderate rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu over the next few days, with the Western Ghats districts expected to receive moderate rain for three consecutive days.

According to the weather department, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Lakshadweep region is influencing weather conditions across the state. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in several districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal between June 23 and June 25.

The Western Ghats districts and parts of North Tamil Nadu may witness moderate rainfall along with winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph. Meanwhile, Chennai and its suburbs are expected to experience a partly cloudy sky, with chances of light to moderate rain during evening or night hours on June 23 and 24.

The weather department has stated that there is no significant change expected in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the coming days, with temperatures likely to remain near or slightly below normal levels.

A fishermen warning has also been issued for the South Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyakumari sea areas, where strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected until June 27. Fishermen are advised to exercise caution while venturing into the sea.

The latest forecast brings hope for cooler weather conditions in several parts of Tamil Nadu as intermittent rain activity is expected to continue over the coming days.
