Chennai Metro Rail Wins Commonwealth Award for Environmental and Social Responsibility

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has received a prestigious Commonwealth Award for Environmental and Social Responsibility, recognising its efforts in environmental protection and sustainable urban development.

According to a statement issued by Chennai Metro Rail, the award was presented in recognition of the organisation’s initiatives towards environmental conservation, sustainability and social responsibility.

Chennai Metro Rail Receives Commonwealth Award 2026

The award was presented at the Commonwealth Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2026 ceremony held in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

The recognition highlights the Chennai Metro Rail’s environmental protection measures and commitment to sustainable urban development. CMRL Project Director T. Archunan received the award on behalf of the organisation at the ceremony.

Award Presented to Chennai Metro Rail Managing Director

Following the award ceremony, the honour was presented to Chennai Metro Rail Managing Director A.M. Siddique in Chennai by the Project Director.

The award reflects CMRL’s continued focus on incorporating environmental sustainability and social responsibility into its metro rail projects and operations.
