The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in isolated places of Kanyakumari district for today and tomorrow.

Vellore recorded the highest temperature in the state at 40.5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, heavy rain is likely in multiple districts of Tamil Nadu today (June 3). The weather department has forecast rainfall in districts including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Tiruppur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tenkasi and Tirunelveli among others.

The southwest monsoon is also expected to strengthen weather activity across southern districts in the coming days.
