Notifications from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister after his cabinet session!
  • `All construction work of the Government and public sector are to be allowed in Chennai.
  • Special Economic Zones, Export-oriented organizations allowed to function but with 25% staff!
  • Shops selling essential items will be allowed to function from 6.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
  • Hotels/restaurants can give (only) parcel items from 6.00 AM to 9.00 PM.
  • Shops selling construction materials and electrical items allowed to be open from 11.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
  • Shops selling mobile phones, computers, household consumer durables can function from 11.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
  • Plumbers, electricians, A/C Mechanics, and smiths can work after getting permission from the right authorities.
  • Approval may be obtained from GCC Commissioner or the concerned collector and then they can start working.
  • In the areas blocked and marked for high-intensity corona, a 100% lockdown will be observed.
  • House servants and persons helping those who need special help can get permission and start working,
  • Textile shops in rural areas can function from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
  • Factories and industries located outside the jurisdiction of Metro and city corporations can function under restricted conditions.
  • Factories are allowed to work but with 50% of workers with a minimum of 20 persons.
  • Except for the malls in the Metro and city corporations, all textile shops can function from 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
  • The concerned district collector can decide on allowing individual shops based upon the local status.
  • All central and state government offices will work with 33% of staff!
  • No special permissions are required for the mini/micro/small/medium industries to function.
  • All academic institutions including schools and colleges WILL NOT FUNCTION.
  • For marriage and other similar occasions, present restrictions will continue.
  • Not more than 20 persons can participate on funerals and final rites for the dead!
  • Information Technology Industries are permitted to work with 50% of staff!
  • All electronic hardware shops are allowed to function with 50% of staff.
  • In the identified high-impact virus zones, total lockdown will continue as now.
  • Information Technology organizations located in Chennai Mero City allowed to function but with 10% staff!
  • Except for Chennai Metro City, all other Information technology organizations allowed to function with 50% of staff.
  • The ban on public transport - airline, trains, and buses - will continue.
  • District collectors instructed to take initiative to allow industries to function by giving suitable permission.
  • Lockdown conditions to continue from 4th May to 12.00 Midnight 17th May!
  • As the intensity of the coronavirus pandemic decreases, the state government of Tamil Nadu will make further relaxation.
  • The cooperative handloom industry in rural areas is allowed to work with 50% of staff.
  • Brick kilns, stone quarries, M-sand, crushers, and the associated transport can all function.
  • Organizations in Metro and other cities can organize their own transport arrangements to bring and drop their employees!
