India has emerged as the largest donor to Nepal after the massive earthquake that hit the mountain kingdom in April this year. Total worldwide aid has, most recently, amounted to $3.5 billion, out of which India has pledged $1 billion.
Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj pledged India�s contribution at a donor capital in Kathmandu. Nepal�s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala promised that there will be �full transparency� in the use of the funds and that he would make sure that there will be no corruption in the process.
The Himalayan nation needs a total of $6.7 billion as reconstruction costs.
