The central government has decided to ban sending all e-mails bearing government information through private e-mail service providers. A circular instruction has been sent to all central government offices as well as state governments.

All government information must be sent through NIC (National Information Centre) server.

This measure is taken in order to prevent misuse & leakage of government information.

When e-mails are sent through e-mail service providers based abroad, the message transactions between government offices, both central & state, are exposed. The step to ban this has been undertaken to prevent this.

The central government has sent strict instructions to all ministries, central & state government establishments that only NIC servers or other web sites under government control should be used for sending/receiving e-mails.

In another front, the central government has decided to impose severe restrictions on government officials using social network media as the recent incidents of terrorist activities using these social network media has been exposed.

The ministry of Home affairs has sent a circular to all departments on 5th December that all officials must exercise strict caution while using social networking media.
