Sugar prices likely to get increased
The government has made a hike in import duty of raw and refined sugar from 15 per cent to 25 per cent. This is said to have a significant effect on sugar price. India has always been practicing import of sugar because of the lower price globally.
As per the notifications by Central Board of Excise and Customs, an increase of import duty to 25 per cent is done on raw sugar and refined or white sugar.
