Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast for 20 Districts Including Tiruvallur and North Chennai
The Chennai Meteorological Department had earlier forecast light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in many parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. In its latest update, the department has announced that 20 districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to receive rainfall until 7 PM today.
According to the forecast, Tiruvallur district and adjoining North Chennai areas are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Districts including Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu are likely to receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
Meanwhile, Ariyalur, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Ranipet, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Tiruvarur, Tiruchirappalli, and Tirunelveli districts are forecast to receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
Weather authorities are monitoring the evolving system as rainfall activity continues across several parts of the state.
