Following the successful establishment of the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai and the Kalaignar Memorial Libraries in Trichy and Madurai, the Tamil Nadu Government has now invited tenders to construct three new mega libraries in Salem, Tirunelveli (Nellai), and Cuddalore.

In Salem, a Bharathidasan Memorial Library will be built on a 75,000 sq. ft. area at a cost of ₹74 crore. In Tirunelveli, a Quaide Millath Memorial Library will be established with five floors, covering 70,000 sq. ft., at a cost of ₹69 crore. Similarly, in Cuddalore, an Anjalai Ammal Memorial Library is planned on a 75,000 sq. ft. site at an estimated cost of ₹80 crore.

These upcoming libraries aim to promote reading culture, digital learning, and research access across Tamil Nadu, continuing the state’s legacy of investing in knowledge and education infrastructure.
