Heavy rain lashes Chennai
For the last one week there were sporadic rains in Tamilnadu and Pondicherry. There were heavy rains in the northern districts in the midnight. Heavy rain lashes in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvalllur since midnight due to a low-pressure build up in the coastal Andhra region.
A holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvalllur districts today. Chennai received 7 cm rain in the Nungambakkam and Airport areas and rain is likely today and tomorrow. A Lufthansa flight from London to Chennai was diverted to Bangalore following heavy rain this morning.
